A breakfront is a protruding centre piece on a piece of furniture such as a bookcase or sideboard, particularly popular in the 18th Century. Thomas Sheraton made a particulary famous model of this bookcase with intricate marquetry inlay.
Breakfront bookcases have lots of storage space and are a great practical storage item. Openfront bookcases are also popular.
